FHS Minumental Art Show
2019 Opening will be held 3/25 from 6pm-8pm

In the News

The first exhibition of the ‘Minumental Art Show’ was held on April Fools Day in 2013. The exhibit was the vision of  Ms. Cahan and the FHS Arts and Culture Club, who wanted to create an event that would include as many artists (students taking art, students not taking art, administrators, teachers, Ahern student artists) as possible in one single art show. To make the show more inclusive and less threatening Ms. Cahan and the Arts and Culture Club decided that all artwork submitted had to be 2” or smaller. The size requirement is why the show was named Minumental. Students and teachers could enter work in one of the following categories – Painting, Drawing, Non-Computer Graphics (bookmaking, lettering, printmaking), Mixed Media, Sculpture, Pottery or Miscellaneous (apparel, textiles). Before the opening, all entries are judged in categories that range from 'Mightiest Mini' to 'Best 3D Representation of Theme'.  Mini trophies, certificates, and prizes are handed out to each of the winning artists. With over five Mini Shows in the Media Center, we are still blown away by the creativity and skill of exhibiting artists. From pots thrown on the wheel with their pinkies to detailed landscapes painted on pebbles, the Minumental Art Show never disappoints.
