Digital Photography – 0865CP Grades 9 – 12 .5 Credits Semester
Digital Photography is an entry-level semester course for high school students interested in exploring the fundamentals of photography and digital imaging. Students receive a full-year Adobe Creative Cloud license and learn to use Adobe Photoshop to format, enhance, and manipulate images. Through hands-on projects, they investigate the Elements of Art and Principles of Design while also learning how photography works through experimentation and play.
The course integrates the Studio Habits of Mindto build transferable skills in creativity, problem-solving, and visual communication. All learning is aligned to the Massachusetts Arts Curriculum Framework and State Standards, ensuring students gain both technical proficiency and artistic literacy.
Assessment is portfolio-based, giving students opportunities to print, present, and exhibit their work in authentic, real-world contexts. By the end of the semester, students will have developed not only technical skills in photography and digital editing, but also the critical and creative thinking abilities essential for success in college, career, and life.
